An exhausting altercation between Jose Mourinho and Paul Pogba that has been tormenting Manchester United for months has finally got its epilogue.
Poor performances on the pitch and constant quarrels of the field have resulted in United parting ways with their manager. The argument between Pogba and Jose Mourinho started last winter, but it only got worse this campaign.
The 25-year-old Frenchman was the one forming a ‘clan’ against the ex-Inter Milan chief of staff.
Along with Anthony Martial and Alexis Sanchez, Pogba has been turning other Man Utd players against Jose Mourinho.
In his attempts to exile the Red Devils manager, Pogba has been exploiting his influence in the dressing room to its limits. Soon, numerous Manchester United players started turning their backs on the Portuguese expert. Phil Jones, Eric Bailly, and Fred have all joined the ‘notorious group’ infuriated by the lack of playing time.
Realizing the gravity of the situation, the ‘Special One’ had to strike back.
Frustrated with Pogba’s output against Southampton, Jose Mourinho has called the Frenchman a ‘virus’ in front of his teammates. The unpleasant scene took place in the dressing room, with Mourinho storming at Pogba following a disappointing 2-2 draw with the Saints.
Just a few weeks before that incident, the Portuguese manager has publicly announced he won’t be handing Pogba a captain’s armband again. The conflict between the two has escalated to the point where Mourinho kept his best midfielder on the bench for two successive Premier League meetings.
Intentionally or not, but Jose Mourinho has left Pogba on the sidelines in two heavyweight clashes. The 55-year-old has paid dearly for his decision to replace the World Cup winner with the inexperienced Diogo Dalot against both Arsenal and Liverpool.
The Red Devils barely collected one point without their playmaker, which ultimately cost Mourinho his job.
Soon after Jose Mourinho‘s departure, Pogba is adding a new dimension to their strained relationship.
Immediately upon Mourinho’s farewell, the former Juventus man has posted a provocative photo on his official Instagram profile, trying to irritate his former boss.
However, the controversial picture was swiftly removed after a bunch of negative comments from Pogba’s Instagram followers. After everything that happened, one thing is certain – Mourinho and Pogba will hardly cooperate with the same team ever again.
